Security, compliance and proof
A will has value only if you can prove it exists, that it hasn't been altered, and that it will reach the right people. This page details, without jargon, what Testaweb puts in place for each of these three points.
- Compliant with Current Legislation
- Recorded and immutable on certified technology
- Storage in European Union (GDPR)
- Complete Traceability of Access and Modifications
- Access by you or your loved ones, on your chosen terms
Compliant with French Law
Testaweb guides you in writing a holographic will: a document you write, date, and sign by hand, recognized by French civil law. Our questionnaire structures your wishes in clear and legally precise language; it is your handwriting and signature that give it its force.
Testaweb is neither a notary nor a law firm and does not provide personalized legal advice. For a complex estate situation, the guidance of a notary is still recommended.
- Holographic will: written, dated, and signed by your hand, as required by French civil law
- Your wishes written in clear language without ambiguous formulas
- A reminder of the reserved share and available portion before validation
- Revocable anytime: a new version cancels and replaces the previous one
- A document ready to be filed with a notary if you wish
- Data hosted on servers located in the European Union
- Encryption in transit and at rest, access limited to necessary processing only
- No transfer of your documents outside the European Union
- Access, correction, deletion, and data portability rights exercisable from your space
- Defined retention periods, complete deletion on request
Hosting in the European Union and GDPR
Your data stays in Europe and serves one purpose only: to produce and preserve your will. It is not resold, not used for advertising, and you always have control to view, correct, or delete it.
Read our privacy policyBlockchain anchoring, explained simply
No will data is published. What's recorded on the blockchain is only a fingerprint: a string of characters proving the document existed on a given date, without revealing anything about it.
- 1
The Fingerprint
Your document is reduced to a SHA-256 fingerprint, a string of 64 characters. The same version always produces the same fingerprint; the slightest comma changed produces an entirely different one. Conversely, the fingerprint does not allow reconstructing the document.
- 2
Timestamping
This fingerprint—and only this one—is recorded in a Bitcoin blockchain transaction. The block containing it bears a date that no one can rewrite after the fact.
- 3
Public proof
Anyone can recalculate a document's fingerprint and find it in this block. This is what allows you to demonstrate, years later, that the text has not changed by a single line.
A Concrete Example
Thomas validates his will on October 16, 2024 at 2:20 PM. One minute later, his fingerprint is recorded on the blockchain. In March 2025, he revises a bequest: a new version is created, with its own fingerprint, and the original remains verifiable as is.
Illustrative example: the fingerprint shown here corresponds to no actual document.

Proof Accessible by Your Loved Ones and Authorized Professionals
Who Can Access Your Will, and When
Only you decide. Each trusted person you designate receives a specific access level, modifiable or revocable at any time from your personal space.
| Access level | What the person can do | Starting when |
|---|---|---|
| Notification Only | She is informed of the existence of your will and knows where to find it, without ever being able to read it. | As soon as you designate them. |
| Access when the time comes | She may consult and download the will, as well as its timestamp proof. | After submission and verification of a death certificate. |
| Immediate Access | They can consult the will right now, without waiting. | As soon as you designate them. |
Each access request and each consultation are dated and kept in your file's audit log. Removing a person revokes their access immediately.

You have a document and its fingerprint? Paste it below to find out if it was anchored by Testaweb, and when. No account needed.
This verification reveals neither the document, nor its author, nor its beneficiaries: it only answers "anchored" or "unknown", and at what date.
